Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) Services

A Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) alcohol and drug regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing and aftercare. Alpine Clinic provides Substance Abuse Professional Services for businesses, and these services comply with the regulations of DOT. New regulations went into effect as of August 01, 2001 and Alpine SAP providers meet these training requirements.

The role of the Substance Abuse Professional:

Referrals for SAP services are scheduled within 24 hours and involve a comprehensive substance abuse assessment. The SAP then develops an appropriate treatment plan and monitors that the client complies with these recommendations.  A follow-up appointment is scheduled to determine compliance and the SAP communicates this to the employer and makes recommendations regarding follow-up drug testing and aftercare services.
